A quick Google search will let you know that the Oscars is an awards show for artistic and technical merit in the film industry. It is basically for anything we find on our screens at home. It is definitely not as exciting as The Grammy’s, where we get to see our favorite artists take the stage.Yet, this year’s Oscars Award Show did give us some amazing celebrity looks to admire and also some historical moments to celebrate!
So the red carpet looks! WOW! Of course Zendeya was all the talk, who was a presenter during the show. She wore a bright yellow dress, similar in style to one of Cher’s iconic looks. The dress was simple and featured a bandeau style neckline that attached to the skirt of the dress. Not only that, the jewelry that was paired with this look tied in everything together. Let’s take a look!
I often write about how I think color will be big this year, and I think Zendaya makes a good introduction to this trend.
Here are some simple, but gorgeous yellow gowns on Queenly!
Another celebrity that was able to pull off a bright color look was Angela Bassett. You may know from her role as Ramonda in Marvel’s Black Panther. Y'all are not ready for this look.
Besides the bright color, Bassett also went for a bold sleeve and cape to accentuate the look.
Take a look at these red dresses on Queenly also with a unique design!
I also want to acknowledge Tyler Perry’s win, speech, and wardrobe. Such a stand up guy! Perry won the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award which is given to an individual in the film industry who’s humanitarian efforts have been significant. We love a good man who can dress well too! Yay for Tyler Perry!
And while we are on the topic of big wins! Let’s take a moment to also celebrate Chloe Zhao’s win for directing and producing “Nomadland”. She is the first woman of color to win this award. She also won best picture!!
Korean actress Yuh-Jung Youn also made history on Sunday night after she won best supporting actress for her role in “Minari”. She is the first Korena actor to ever win an Oscar.
So while the Oscars award Show might not be the most entertaining to watch, I am happy and excited to hear that this year’s awards show was filled with diversity and inclusion!
The last look I want to leave you all with is Regina King, who literally had my jaw on the floor.. Her dress had wing-like sleeves and had crystal running along the whole dress.
This color is everything. You have to look at these dresses on Queenly that match this color.
